So, you’re a blogger (or maybe you’re in the social media business). Something you have to have for nearly every project is stock photos.
But, where do you go to get these stock photos? What are the best sites bloggers can use for stock photos?
Well friends, I am going to answer these questions (and more) about stock photos today for you in this blog post!

Also, before we get started, I want to tell you about my brand new book that just recently hit the stands. My book is called “Make That Money, Honey!” and is a book for bloggers who want to turn their blogging as a career into a sustainable profit and who want to become professionals in the blogging industry.
My book goes through 19 chapters and includes “secret” information that most bloggers do not like to give out (I am simply different, I don’t mind sharing because I feel that my success should be shared with you to encourage your success!).
In the book, I go over SEO, Facebook Groups for business, affiliate marketing, ad placement, sponsorships, and so much more. It truly is the last book you’ll ever have to purchase in order to figure out how to get to the next level of blogging! You can purchase it by going here now!

10 Incredible Sites with Stunning Stock Photos for Bloggers (Most Are Free!)
Before we get into the good stuff (aka the 10 incredible stock photo sites), let’s go over a few important pieces of information about stock photos.
What are stock photos?
“Stock photos (stock photography) are professional photographs of common places, landmarks, nature, events or people that are bought and sold on a royalty-free basis and can be used and reused for commercial design purposes.” (reference here)
Why might bloggers want to use stock photos?
Most bloggers use stock photos for one (or more) of the following reasons:
- They do not have a really nice camera with which to take their own photos
- They are looking for a specific “style” of photo
- They are looking for a specific “look” of photo
- Stock photos really get their readers’ attention
Where do bloggers use stock photos?
There are almost countless places in which bloggers can use stock photos. Some places include (but are not limited to):
- Instagram & Facebook posts
- Digital Products
- Opt-In Forms
Should a Blogger Pay for Stock Photos?
The answer to this is subjective. Some bloggers feel as if there are enough free stock photo sites out there to where you will never need to pay for stock photos.
However, I disagree. After nearly a year of using free stock photos (from some really awesome sites that I will list in the next section) I decided to broaden my abilities as a blogger and businesswoman and purchase a monthly subscription to a stock photo site.
I chose to go with Styled Stock Society (for multiple reasons, which I will explain in the next section) and couldn’t be happier with my decision.
Since choosing to pay for my stock photos, I have seen an increase in the amount of traffic I get per day/week/month, more engagement, and even a lower bounce rate. I personally think the small monthly payment is worth it, for these reasons.
Now, let’s move on to the 10 best sites for bloggers to get stock photos!
10 Best Sites for Bloggers to Get Stock Photos
Let’s get to the good stuff: the 10 best sites bloggers can use to get stock photos.
Most of these sites are free. Only one (Styled Stock Society) is paid. I talk about why I recently chose to go with Styled Stock Society in the previous section.
1. Styled Stock Society
As previously mentioned, I just recently decided to buy a monthly subscription to Styled Stock Society.
Man, I am so glad I made this decision!
What I love most about Styled Stock Society is the user-friendly dashboard they have, making it super easy to search through their library of stock photos and filter with different elements such as color, person in or not in the photo, season, and more.
In addition, Styled Stock Society also has these amazing benefits:
- A “what to celebrate” section for the current month, giving you photos to use for occasions such as “National Pancake Day” or “National Read a Book Day” which is just perfect for use with social media.
- An easy to use member library with thousands of beautiful stock photos for just about any blog post or social media post you can think of writing.
- The ability to filter through the member library with certain elements such as color, presence of a person in the photo, types of technology in the photo, orientation, background, and more.
- Canva templates for Instagram posts and stories, media kits, mock ups, workbooks, roadmaps, checklists, call to action buttons, Pinterest graphics, and more (perhaps my favorite feature from Styled Stock Society).
- A “Bonuses” section with items such as ready-to-post Instagram graphics, positive affirmation graphics, animated gifs, stock video clips, and more.
Example Stock Photos from Styled Stock Society
Here are a few of my favorite photos from Styled Stock Society, just to give you an idea of what they have:
Like I said previously, since being a member at Styled Stock Society, I have seen an increase in my blog and Pinterest traffic, an increase in engagement, and a lowered bounce rate! Incredible!
Canva is the place I have been going to since day 1 of launching my blog for amazing stock photos.
I swear – they must have thousands and thousands of stock photos because I am always finding what I need from them!
What I love about Canva is not only can you grab stock photos on their site, but you can create just about any digital product you can think of there, too!
In my opinion, having Styled Stock Society + Canva is all you need as a blogger for stock photos.
Pexels is a really good site to grab stock photos from.
I would say that their stock photos are a bit “moodier” than others, but sometimes this is exactly what you need to go along with your blog post.
Highly recommend them!
Unplash is another good one.
If I can’t find what I’m looking for on Pexels, I’ll typically check Unsplash right away, as they seem to carry different style photos than Pexels.
To be honest, I haven’t personally used Pixabay too much – but I am recommending them within this list because I have a lot of blogger friends who use them regularly and love them.
Head to Pixabay and look around – you may see something you like!
StockSnap.io is fairly new on my radar, but so far I am loving them!
I absolutely love that they add hundreds of new stock photos each week to their collection.
7. Burst (by Shopify)
Burst by Shopify is one of my favorites.
You can search through their thousands of photos by category (and they have a lot of categories).
Reshot is my favorite stock photo site to go to for images of people. They seriously have the best selection!
I highly recommend Reshot for your stock photos!
Gratisography is another one that I haven’t personally used so much, but have plenty of friends who really say great things about them.
I know that their photos are a bit more “quirky” than most stock photo sites, but again, you may be looking for just that!
Last but not least, Picography is another one I have used in the past that I really love.
Anytime I cannot find what I am looking for on Pexels or Unsplash, I immediately head to Picography and know I will find it there.
Well friends, I hope you have learned a thing or two after reading this post – and I seriously hope you will try out Styled Stock Society, my favorite place to go for stock photos.
