6 Strategies on Writing an Awesome About Me Page that Converts Visitors into Subscribers

Hi friends & welcome back to the blog! Today, my blogger friend Ekta, is going to share with you exactly how to write an awesome “About Me” page for your blog!

Ekta has a blog of her own at Tia Says and blogs about, well – blogging! She has a lot of experience in the field and I just know you will love this post & get so much insight from it!

Before we get started, I want to make sure you have seen my recent Leslie W. Business Babes posts. Please check these out before continuing:

Also, before we get started, I want to tell you about my brand new book that just hit the stands on Amazon a few days ago. My book is called “Make That Money, Honey!” and is a book for bloggers who want to turn their blogging as a career into a sustainable profit and who want to become professionals in the industry.

My book goes through 19 chapters and includes “secret” information that most bloggers do not like to give out (I am simply different, I don’t mind sharing because I feel that my success should be shared with you to encourage your success!).

In the book, I go over SEOFacebook Groups for businessaffiliate marketing, ad placementsponsorships, and so much more. It truly is the last book you’ll ever have to purchase in order to figure out how to get to the next level of bloggingYou can purchase it by going here now!

Also, will you please share this post? It sure helps me a ton if you share – not to mention all the other bloggers out there that really need this information (just like you). I would love if you would share this on Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram!

Okay everyone – without further ado, here is the post for you. Let’s get to it!

How to Write an Awesome “About Me” Page that Converts Visitors into Subscribers

about me page on blog

Do you know what is the most visited page of an average website? Home page? Yes and no (it can be, in some cases). But if you guessed the “About Me” page then you are absolutely right!

Now, it may sound weird to you – but aren’t you a little bit curious why this is so?

I will tell you why: because anyone who navigates through a site also wants to meet the person behind it.

If you’re anything like me, you don’t feel like creating an “About Me” page. You may even have the same “About Me” page that you created when first starting your blog.

At that time, you created the page (more so, jotted down whatever came to your mind) and then never touched it later.

Do you really think that the same about me page represents you now? Probably not.

You know much better who you are now! And this is the reason why you need a brand new “About Me” page.

I had realized the same mistake just a few months before and so I researched (a lot!) and found out what is the perfect “About Me” page that turns random website visitors into subscribers.

In this post, I have collected all of the points for you that make the best “About Me” page and you have to read them all. After all, it’s time to up the game.

Why Does Your “About Me” Page Have to be Attractive?

The “About Me” page is one of the most effective pages of your website.

This is because, whenever a new visitor enters your site and falls in love with your blog content, he wants to see the brain behind. He wants to meet the boss in person!

As humans, we always find a way to personalize things. Don’t you? It is a good human trait. Consequently, our curious readers also go to our “About Me” pages.

So, your page must be that effective that the half-in-love-reader becomes your subscriber! You become the mentor he always wanted and he will follow you and whatever you say to him. (It is important that your readers trust you, right?)

And if there is another boring introduction or “About Me” page, the potential subscriber is lost! Forever!

How I Discovered the Master Formula for the “About Me” Page

about me formula for success

When I was just starting out I felt no need for an “About Me” page. As I told you before, I created it just because I read in a fellow blogger’s post titled “must-have pages on your blog”.

After a while, once blogging really started making some sense to me, I found on the exit pages column of my Google Analytics that the “About Me” page stands in the number 2 spot.

Meaning, my readers were liking my content but not my “About Me” page.

Interestingly, I saw a pin on Pinterest with the heading “How to Write an Extraordinary About Me page.”

I clicked on the pin and some more similar pins and came up with a Master Formula to create an “About Me” page that turns random visitors into subscribers!

Eventually, I gathered my courage and prepared an impressive “About Me” page, and guess what? It paid off

It helped my readers connect with me more. They started liking me more

Don’t you want that for you and your blog? Yes, of course you want it.

So, let’s get you loved by your fans!

The Awesome “About Me” Master Formula!

about me step by step

I named it The Awesome About Me. Because I can’t think of any other name.

The most important thing to understand is that the “About Me” page is not about you exactly but what you represent.

I see this mistake in almost every new blog. All of the newbies confuse it with about them.

What they do is write all about themselves like “my favorite color is this” and their visitors stop coming back. Because it doesn’t seem professional.

And trust me, no one is interested in knowing what your favorite color is.

So, focus on telling everything about your brand and just a little bit about you.

Here’s how you will do it. By using this blueprint below.

1. Your Blog’s Mission Statement

blog mission statement

What do you want to achieve with your blog? I mean, obviously, we all want to make it a successful business but don’t you also want to help people in the first place? Of course you do!

Convey this to them! People will follow you only if they feel they can walk away from their interaction with you with something new – something they didn’t have before.

Give them a reason to trust you!

Not sure how to write one? Here, take an idea from this format:

I help (or my blog helps) [Target Audience] to start with [What you teach in your blog] so that  [A satisfying helpful statement]. Tell them how you are different.

For example, my blog mission statement is:

My blog Tia Says is dedicated to helping young and creative people to make a strong presence online by starting their own blog so that they could make their blogging journey better every day. I do that with fun and creativity.

2. Daily Struggles of Your Target Audience

target audience struggles

Tell your readers about the problems that they are facing. This way you will create a connection with them.

They will know that you are the right person to go to for advice.

It may happen that they don’t have some of the problems listed but they may still want to know them.

Make a list of topics that you cover in your blog and present them to your readers.

3. Solutions to Their Struggles

solutions to target audience problems

Now comes the impression-making part. This is the time when you display your blog posts to them so that they instantly understand that you can and will in fact help them with their struggles.

Showcase your blog posts (in a beautiful slider) so that they can easily learn what you have for them.

This way you are giving them a way to navigate through your site…to know more about you.

4. Opt-in Form

blog opt in form email

Add your opt-in form here. This is the decision-making situation for them. If they are already your fan they will want to join your list also.

And with the impression that you are making, you already know this!

Place the opt-in form that you are most proud of.

5. Share Your Story!

share your story on your blog about me page

Now comes the time when you get to tell about yourself. Yes!

Because this “About Me” page is not about you but what you represent. (Your blog/brand).

Add a high-quality image of you smiling confidently. The image must also have bright and striking colors.

After that, answer these questions:

  • Why did you first start this (your blog) as a business? (To personalize with them)
  • How long have you been doing this? (To build credibility)
  • Why should they trust you? (The best way is to add some testimonials of your users)
  • Why are you different from others? (This you already know – give yourself a chance)

Answer these questions smartly because this is the last step for them to become a regular subscriber.

This doesn’t mean that you have to fake a superhero story – just be honest and tell them the exact truths of all the whys, hows, and whats!

6. Offering a Freebie

freebie for blog subscribers

Add a freebie to the end of your “About Me” page because if your readers have made it here, I’m sure they like you. Congrats, you have made it to their good books!

Don’t you want to gift them something? They have made it to the end of your page and they deserve to be in your exclusive group.

Give your new reader (or should I say regular visitor) one more reason to find out how awesome you are!

This is all that you need for your awesome “About Me” page. Here, have a look at my “About Me” page. I keep updating it. (Now I have a habit!)

If you want to add anything extra that you offer (and makes you different) then you must add it. Give your readers every possible reason to believe that you are different and not like every other blogger.

Above, I have used bold in “believe” because I want you to know what I mean to say. You just can’t make any story to be “different”. Being honest is way better.

Here comes an end to The Awesome About Me formula. The tricks that I told you above have worked for me and I’m pretty sure that they will work for you too.

I have told you the real secret of an amazing “About Me” page. That is to tell more about your brand and less about you. You have to keep it all balanced.

On the other hand, you cannot just update it and then not touch it for years. This time, you know exactly how to make it perfect.

Even if I update it regularly (Yes, I started doing this!) I’m always thinking of ways to make it more enjoyable for my readers and I want you to do the same.

Whenever you find anything that could be added to your “About Me” page, just add it then. Keep it updated!

So, enough of me talking!

Now your turn!

Tell me what do you blog about? Who is your target audience? And go write your “About Me” page!
