Making mom friends is not easy. In fact, it has been really hard for me. Thankfully, recently, I discovered a very easy, effective, effortless way to make mom friends and I want to share it with you today.
I have been a mom now for almost 2 years (hard to believe…the time really does fly by). It has been one of of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my life to date! It is one of those things that only gets better with time.
However, there are some parts that aren’t easy…like: sleep deprivation, tantrums, teething, potty training…you know, the usual. One of the hardest things, I’ve found, about being a mom is finding friends. Doesn’t it seem like it would be so simple? But ladies, as I’m sure you have experienced, it’s not.
Finding mom friends is hard. Sometimes, it’s harder than the sleep deprivation (because hey, if we had a friend to talk to about the sleep deprivation, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad, right?).
What Actually Worked for Me
I have tried everything—and I mean everything. I have reached out to friends who do have kids, who don’t have kids, who are near, who are far, I’ve posted in Facebook groups, on Instagram pages, attended Meetups – you name it, I have tried it. And, no luck…that is, until I found MOPS.
Do you know what MOPS is? Well, first of all, it’s the gold at the end of the trying-to-find-mom-friends-rainbow…but it also stands for “Mothers of Preschoolers.” It is nationwide program whose sole purpose is to gather and support moms.
At MOPS, you meet twice a month and actually get to sit down with and have brunch with moms who are just like you (sleep deprived, going through teething, tantrums, etc.). You get to talk, sit, breathe, and you can even be silent if you’d like (but I doubt you’ll be able to because of how excited you’ll be around new mom friends). Did I mention that there is free childcare at the meetings?
I started attending MOPS in September 2019 and I am so glad I did! I have found some amazing friends and look forward to the meetings so much. My son loves the childcare they provide and I personally love the bagels and coffee! There are also speakers each time and I have learned a lot about my marriage, being a mom, and my son.
I recently filmed a video all about how to make mom friends by going to MOPS, and I think you will really like it. It goes over all the details about MOPS and how exactly to join. Check it out below! I also have more YouTube videos with women’s and mother’s lifestyle content so make sure you check out my YouTube channel!
Look it up in your area. Go to mops.org and find one near you. You won’t be sorry you did, I promise.
Thanks for reading, as always, and take care.
