36 Best Gifts for Toddlers in 2020 | Toddler’s Holiday Gift Ideas 2020
Almost all of the gifts below are gifts for toddlers that I have either purchased for myself, gifts that have been given to my toddler, or gifts that I have purchased for another toddler in my life (niece, nephew, friend, etc.)
I highly recommend every single one of these gifts for toddlers, and if you notice from the reviews, so do thousands of other people!
Stocking Stuffers for Toddlers
Books are always a great gift idea for toddlers – no matter the occasion.
I recommend including a few books in their stocking this year for the holidays! One of our all-time favorite books is this book from the Richard Scarry collection!
2. Bamboo Plate
Another great stocking stuffer for toddlers is a bamboo plate!
Bamboo plates can be used over and over and over again, are super easy to clean, and are a sustainable option when it comes to toddler dishes. This fox bamboo plate is our favorite!
3. Bath Toys
What toddler doesn’t love to play with bath toys in the bathtub?
These bath toys are so cute – I love that they encourage lots of deep thinking and curiosity in toddlers, too!
4. Sensory Tools
Sensory bins are so much fun – for toddlers and their parents!
A great idea for a stocking stuffer this year is a set of fun, new sensory tools! These are our favorites!
5. Melissa & Doug Water Wow
If you’re on the go a lot (and even if you are not), a set of Water Wow’s is a great gift idea for toddlers.
My son has loved Water Wow’s since he was a baby – and still does! These are our favorite 3-pack of Water Wow’s.
Just like the bath toys, what toddler doesn’t like Play-Doh?
Play-Doh is such a great idea when it comes to gifts for toddlers – especially for their stockings! I love the color options that come with this set in particular.
Gifts Under $50 for Toddlers
1. Camping Set
I’ve talked about this camping set a lot in my blog posts – because it’s just that good.
A great gift idea for toddlers this holiday season is this awesome camping set. It comes with a tent & 24 other pieces (including a light-up lantern & stove, working binoculars, & watch, and more) and you really can’t go wrong with this! We’ve had it for about 6 months now and still love it.
My son loves Legos – and I know many toddlers & preschoolers & even older kids who do, too.
Legos spark so much creativity and also have a STEM-like component to them, enabling a child to practice some very early engineering skills.
This Lego set is my favorite for toddlers. It has 790 pieces and also comes with an awesome, durable yellow storage bin!
3. Dump Trucks
If your toddler loves construction vehicles (or really any other kind of vehicle), they must have a Tonka dump truck!
This is the best Tonka dump truck, in my opinion. It works great & will last your child years and years!
4. Doctor Dress-Up Kit
Toddlers absolutely love to play dress-up, especially starting around age 2.5-3 years old.
This doctor dress-up kit is my favorite. The tools are so “realistic” for a toddler toy! If you don’t need/want the scrubs, this is my other favorite toddler doctor kit (and it comes with doctor tool bag as well).
5. Magnet Tiles
Magnet Tiles are amongst some of the best, high-quality, open-ended toys a toddler can own.
PicassoTiles has the best selection of Magnet Tiles, in my opinion. We have this set of 100 Magnet Tiles and have loved it for a couple years now! I also recommend grabbing an expansion set for your Magnet Tiles like this one – it helps when they are wanting to build multi-level “houses” and “buildings” and other things of that nature.
6. Little People Figurines
Every toddler needs a set of figurines to play with during pretend play and imaginary play.
This set of Little People Figurines (with 20 pieces) is my favorite. I also really like this set as it contains families from four different ethnic groups. Hape is also another great brand and has different ethnicities like this set of African American people figurines.
7. Counting Bears
If you are looking for a “toy” for your toddler that doubles as a learning activity, this next gift idea is perfect.
We have had this set of counting bears for over a year now, and love it. I love that your toddler can learn their colors, sorting, counting, fine motor skills, vocabulary, and more – just from this one set of counting bears. There are many online like it, but this one is the highest quality, in my opinion – and it comes with a really nice storage tote, too.
Beads are a wonderful toy for your toddler to have – they can learn so much from playing with them!
This set of “snapping” beads is my favorite – because they all “snap” into place. Plus, with 500 pieces, there are more than enough beads to have fun with!
9. Cars & Trucks
Cars & trucks are toys that most toddlers like (whether they are boys or girls)!
This set of cars & trucks is our absolute favorite. Harrison was given these when he was just about a year old & he has loved them and played with them regularly ever since. They are the “pull back” type of cars, which are really fun to play with!
10. Baby Doll Stroller
My son has loved playing with his baby doll for a long time now.
We got him this baby doll stroller over a year ago and he really enjoys pushing his baby around in it! If you are interested, this is the baby doll he has and we love this, too!
Gifts Over $50 for Toddlers
1. Play Kitchen
Harrison’s “big” gift for his second Christmas was his play kitchen.
He has played with it regularly ever since! Although the exact kitchen we got him is no longer found online, here is one that is very similar (in look & function) that I love!
2. Bouncy House
One of my friends has a bouncy house set up in her basement and – let’s just say – it is always the key attraction over there!
If you have an area to set up a bouncy house, this one is the best in terms of quality, price, and reviews!
3. Doll House
Almost every toddler out there would absolutely love to have a doll house for Christmas!
Harrison was given this Hape doll house for Christmas last year, from his grandmother, and he really does love it! I love how it fits our “minimalistic” lifestyle & home decor & is also functional in many ways & super cute.
Although we don’t have one (we live in a townhome complex without our own private backyard), I know my son would absolutely love a trampoline!
This trampoline has the best reviews from parents of toddlers – and is perfect for the size that toddlers are. It’s only 5 feet in circumference (which is my opinion is big enough for a toddler) and comes with a safety enclosure & basketball hoop!
5. Train Set
A train set as a gift for a toddler just screams “Christmas,” doesn’t it?
We got Harrison his Brio train set a long time ago and it is still one of his favorite toys. This is the Brio train set I would choose as a present for a toddler because it has enough pieces (25) yet isn’t too overwhelming. It’s a great starter set.
6. Power Wheels
What toddler out there wouldn’t really love a Power Wheels as a present?
This one has the best reviews from parents of toddlers and is in a really affordable price range, when it comes to Power Wheels. Highly recommend.
7. Balance Bike
We got Harrison his balance bike last year for Christmas and I would say it is his most played-with toy/present he’s ever received! He rides it almost every single day.
This is the exact balance bike we got him. Couldn’t be happier with the quality & durability of it!
8. Kindle Fire 8 – Kids Edition
While Harrison does not use his tablet often (we save it for traveling in the car or on the airplane), he really loves it.
This was an early Christmas gift from his grandmother this year and so far, we are loving it. I love that you can input your child’s age in the settings, to display only age-appropriate content, and that everything is kid-friendly. Great buy! (Also, FYI, these are the headphones we got to go along with the tablet. Love them – super comfortable & has volume control).
9. Play Tent & Tunnel
If you have the room for it, a play tent & tunnel (ball pit optional) is a great gift for a toddler!
This one has some of the best reviews and has quite a lot to offer – with two tents, two tunnels, and a ball pit. What a fun toy for a toddler this would be!
Lastly, if your toddler does not yet have a scooter, it sure would be a great gift to get them this year!
This scooter has amazing reviews from parents of toddlers! It is adjustable & is also light-up, which you know toddlers would absolutely love. Highly recommend!

3. Little Passports
Little Passports is another highly-recommended monthly subscription box for toddlers. Little Passports is a kids subscription box program that aims to inspire children to learn about the world. There are several subscription options aimed at different age groups and interests!

5. Hoppi Box
Lastly, the Hoppi Box is a great idea for a monthly subscription box for toddlers. Their boxes are designed for children ages 0 through 4 years old…the critical period when the brain is rapidly growing.
Personalized Gifts for Toddlers
1. Name Puzzle
We got Harrison a personalized name puzzle a few months ago and I absolutely love it.
This one is my favorite (and also has great reviews). Personalized name puzzles are a great way to introduce the letters of your child’s name to them in a fun way!
If we didn’t already have a personalized backpack for Harrison, I would totally be grabbing one of these for this year’s holidays!
These backpacks are so cute! They are quilted and come in 11 different designs, with personalization options for each!
3. Beach Towel
Another great idea for a personalized gift for a toddler is a beach towel!
I love these beach towels for toddlers! There are 18 designs to choose from, all unique and cute, and personalization options for each!
Harrison’s nanny from when he was a baby gave him this book as a parting gift before she moved – and we loved it!
This personalized “ABC” book for toddlers is such a great gift idea. There are 24 pages, a soft cover, and it personalizes the book with their first and last name, gender, home state, and the sender’s name! So cute!
5. Step Stool
Another great personalized gift idea for toddlers is a step stool!
These step stools have lots of great reviews and come in 4 different styles (natural, white, gray, and black). There are also 7 themes to choose from and personalization options for all!
